Cookies and ads
We advertise BuildsConnect on Facebook and Instagram. To see which ads bring people to us, some of our pages load Meta's pixel: a small piece of code from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram.
What it tells Meta
- That one of those pages was viewed.
- That a new account was made, that someone started buying credits, and that a purchase went through, with its amount in Australian dollars.
What it does not
- We do not send Meta your name, email address or phone number.
- The pixel is not on our sign-up, sign-in or account pages, on project pages, or on any page that shows contact details. Before it loads, the page's address is cut to its path, the ad's own tracking tags, and the council or trade the page was opened for; anything else in the address is dropped.
Meta sets its own cookies to do this, and uses what it learns under its own policies, including to choose which ads you see.
Your choices
- Change what ads Meta shows you in your Facebook or Instagram settings: Accounts Centre, then Ad preferences.
- Block or clear third-party cookies in your browser. Our pages work the same without them.
